Whilst it is with regret that we will no longer be holding the Llanwonno races. We would like annonce a new race for 2012.
The run will start a mile up the valley past Pontypridd Railway Station at the Barry Sidings, near Hopkinstown Cricket Club.
Please find attached the entry form for the race and a map of the course. Please note that showers will be available after the race
at the Cricket Club where the presentation will take place. Normally for a race of this type prizes are not available to all runners
but as we have various gifts left over from previous years, they will be handed out on a first finished first served basis.
There is also a childrens race which starts at 10.30am, approx 1 mile, £3.00 entry includes medals to all runners, 1st, 2nd and
3rd and team prize for first 3 boys and girls.
Please find attached feedback which can be found on runnersworld

In short: Excellent Inaugural Event
In full: Low key event for a Sunday morning training run, but ticked all the right boxes: decent toilets, ample free parking, refreshments for all, slick registration and great marshals.
Course is 3 miles uphill, 1 mile on the flat, and then 2 miles back down to the finish. On paper that sounds really tough, but the uphills were all runnable with a few flatter sections interspersed to give the quads a bit of a break. I personally would not recommend road shoes for this if you have weak ankles/core as a lot of the course is on very stony tracks with a lot of rocky outcrops. There is also a steep downhill gulley covered with loose rocks that was ‘interesting’ in road shoes. However, the final 400m is pure speed, I felt like Iwan Thomas sprinting for the line!!!
Great job Pontypridd Roadents will definitely be back next year. |
