A massive well done to all the Roadents who turned out for the Club today, on one of the toughest courses and in the rain everyone did the Club proud.
Once again Brian Gough showed his class in the Vet 70 Category leading the field from start to finish.
With the Mens Team only able to get five runners to run it was important they all gave everything, and so they did, Peter Coles 30th pushed hard on the second lap and headed Dan Bodman into the last lap, Pete held his position and finished with a big smile. Rhodri followed and dug in as mum was watching from the side lines, Rhod managing to finish in the top 100 for the first time 84th. Who would finish next a well deserved 122nd for the ever improving Justin Jones just holding off Andy Dunscombe 123rd, Carl Edwards dug in and can be proud of a very creditable 133rd.
In the ladies race we had four Roadents taking part Kelly was first to finish in 27th place another hard fought race between Fiona and Sue, Fiona 59th manging a sprint to pass Sue 60th in the finish straight.
It was good to see Jan 114th taking part after Bridgend, Jan can be proud of her run.

The next cross country will be next Sunday at Singleton park in Swansea.
Hopefully we can get everyone to come along and support the club.
We really do need the girls to turn out, promotion is there for the taking.

Enough with the usual results………Come on girls, we are up to second! Complete teams for the next three and I think we reach the dizzy heights of division 2. A gentle enticement…..whoever runs at Singleton (girls only) the Joe’s are on me!
Ice Cream aside, results:
Girl’s race - Kelly 38th 24.25, Sue 64th 25.56, Fiona 68th 26.10, Nicola 143rd 33.04
Fiona currently 2nd in her category, still all to play for.
Brian’s race - 1st vet 70 25.52 only 4 mins ahead this time Bri, slipping! Top of the leaderboard!
Boy’s race - Peter 38th 36.11, Nick 67th 38.02, Jason 106th 40.16, Rhodri 115th 40.42, Coco 135th 41.52, Justin 211 48.02

A lovely day in not typical cross country conditions. We weren’t complaining. Well done all good effort!

The second cross country of the season will be held in Bath. It’s important that we get as many members to run as possible.

There was a good turn out from the club for the first cross country of the season.

We had 13 Men and 3 Ladies.
Men
There were 321 finishers.
Threre were good performances all round for the men, Brian Gough once again showed his class in the vet 70 winning by more than 6 minutes, Peter Coles was 2nd vet 45 and Nick Frost 3rd vet 50.
There were lots of first time runs, with Ross, Laurence Pole, Carl Edwards and Justin Jones.
Peter Coles 47th, Nick Frost 67th, Ross 138th, Rhodri Evans 139th, Laurence Pole 207th, COCO 241st, Huw Durham 246th, Andy Dunscombe 261st, Bobby Ford 274th, Carl Edwards 292nd, Andy Davies 295th, Justin Jones 303rd.
Our A Team were 21/62 and B Team 55/62 .Our A Team are currently 10/12 in Division 1 and B Team 12/21 in the B Division.
Men VET 70
Another great run from Brian Gough gives him a good lead in the vet 70 Category. Brian won his category by more than 6 minutes.
Ladies
Our Ladies Team were 24th/54 Teams and are currently 4th in Division 3.
There were 179 finishers.
What a shame we didn’t have more ladies taking part, after a fantastic effort from Fiona, Sue and Jan we are currently 4th out of 14 Teams in Division 3. If we can get a full Team for the next one we can move upto 3rd.
Another strong run from Fiona Davies 2nd vet 55 and 75th in the race just held off first time cross country runner Sue Wales 78th. Jan Edwards again doing her first cross country dug in to finish 125th.

The first race in the Gwent League Cross Country will be in Bridgend.

The Mens Team will once again compete in the 1st Division.
Our ladies Team are now in Division 3, if we can get the girls to run there is no reason why we cant win the Division.

Well done to everyone who took part in this year races.
Our mens team finished 5th place in Division 1
Our ladies team finished 8th in Division 3
Brian Gough 1st vet 70 in 21.09 and was the overall series winner.
Apologies to Brian for missing him off the Results.
Peter Coles finished 7th overall and 4th vet 40, while Daniel Bodman finished 9th overall and 2nd under 23.

Daniel Bodman 30th in 31.20, Peter Coles 31st 31.28, Andy Baker 64th 33.44, Rhodri Evans 67th 33.51, Steve Hooper 102nd 35.40.
